The 7th & 8th Grade Science Homework Policy

We all have lives outside of Compass School and I am very respectful of that.  I value my time and I know students do too.  With this in mind I am very thoughtful about the work I ask students to do outside of school time.  At the same time most of us need to practice that which we are introduced to and there often is not enough time for students to use the skills and knowledge they are developing in class.  There will be times when students have very little homework and other times when a project, exam or presentation requires a great deal more time.  I intend to strike a good balance and appreciate any feedback students or parents have.

My homework policy is simple.

I.      Failure to turn in homework on time and complete will result in a significant

         drop in the student's grade. 

II.    The student is still responsible for turning in the completed assignment.

III.  After three assignments that are either incomplete or late the student's

        parents will be notified.

IV.   If the pattern continues a meeting with the student and his or her parents

        will be scheduled.
