"Tourou" or Torchlight's - Temple Grounds, Nara, Japan
There are only two options regarding commitment. You're either in or out. There's no such thing as a life in-between. Pat Riley
While traveling in Japan during the summer of 2004, I was struck by the beauty and integrity of its people, its culture and its landscape. I came away with a renewed sense of balance and a commitment toward bringing the head, mind and body together in such a way that life could be lived more connectedly.
I strive to apply this same connectedness to the work I do with my students by helping them explore the questions; What do I understand about myself and What are my specific learning styles and strengths. We then work together to identify and activate specific strategies to address their learning needs as well as work on specific skills to address any areas of challenge. As an end result students not only become more skillful but learn to advocate for themselves and become more motivated to utilize strategies that really work for their learning styles.
