11th Grade Humanities Syllabus November 15-December 22
Overview: We will work on four primary foci this month:
1) World History Overview
2) Current Events Study
3) Writing a “Chocolate Thunder Dunk” paper
4) Writing, reading, and grammar skill development (and some SAT test taking skills)
Improving reading and writing and doing well on required tests is valuable and having a broad sense of World History can help our understanding of life around us. Connecting history to current events, and being able to talk and think about this, seems essential to understanding the world around us in a democratic society.
Largely, I will ask you to do SAT related work or current events reading for homework nightly, and we will work in class on the history overview or discussion. Computers will help immensely in classtime work, so please bring these each day.
